Boys can cook too

T has been wanting to learn how to make scrambled eggs. He's perfected the skill of cracking open eggs; so he was allowed to progress to scrambling them this morning. He was supervised very closely of course. He did a great job. Dad only crunched down on one tiny bit of egg shell while eating his breakfast this morning:-)

Preschool for the Little One

T and K have just finished their 3rd week of school for this year. L always wants to join in on our learning adventures. This week, I spent some time getting some lessons planned and organized. I found a lot of great ideas at Letter of the Week to use with L this year. Here's what L learned this week..

Look What's Cookin'

We were busy in the kitchen this week. We made homemade applesauce in the crockpot. You can find the recipe we used here. On Tuesday nights, the boys are going to cub scouts, and the girls and I are going to bake. Last Tuesday Kaitlyn and I made cinnamon rolls and wheat bread. Lauren didn't get to participate because she was sick. But, I'm sure we'll catch a few cute pictures of her in the kitchen with us next week when we make pumpkin bread.

Little Evel Knievels'

We have a huge sand mound in our back yard. They're pretty common here in rural PA. It's a huge mound that covers your septic tank. Lovely thoughts, I know! The children love it though. It's fun to run up and down, run up, and roll down, or push your bike up and ride down AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!!

Apple Picking

Today some friends of ours let us know about a great place to go apple picking! So, they led the way, and we followed! We had a great time! The children really enjoyed it, and we're already making plans to go on one more apple picking trip next month! This afternoon, K and I (mom) made 6 apple dumplings. We plan on making some apple butter, and we might even try making some homemade applesauce if we have enough apples. The children eat apples almost every single day, so we'll see how much cooking we are able to accomplish before the fruit of our labor runs out!

All that apple picking made them hungry!

Digging for Rocks

The children decided they wanted to have a rock collection. So, this week they could be found outside in the driveway digging away!

Our Little Yodeler

T learned how to yodel thanks to Larry Boy (Veggie Tales Super Hero). There's an episode called "The Yodelnapper." Enjoy the Yodeling!

Little Mommy

I felt like L was not getting much attention here at Tibbetts Family Online. So, I wanted to share a couple cute pictures I took of her this week.

Another Cool Park!

We went with some new friends today to a park. We packed a picnic lunch, and hiked down some scenic nature trails. We saw crawdads, dragon flies, turtles, water skaters, butterflies, algae, "beautiful bushes" (as L pointed out to us), and a creek. We would have stayed longer, but L tripped over a big tree root, and got a boo-boo on her hip. She's doing fine now, but it really hurt for a while:-(

On the way to this park, T told me that Pennsylvania is his favorite place we've ever lived. He said he hopes we get to live here forever. T said he likes PA, because everywhere you drive, it looks like we're in a forest.

Oh, one more thing. Dad got T signed up for cub scouts tonight! We are super excited about it! So, on Tuesday nights, T will be going to his pack meetings. His first pack meeting will be Tuesday, September 23rd. T said he's the most excited about "learning about nature and having scout meetings." Since T is a 1st grader, he's called a tiger cub.

Spring Valley County Park

We found a county park about 5 minutes from our new house. Now, this isn't the kind of park where you'll find tornado slides, but if you enjoy hiking through the woods, and playing in a creek, you would enjoy this park!

Following Our Leader

We found some neat bridges!

We had a fun day!
Oh, and one more thing. Grandma, this park is perfect for trail riding. Here's some evidence to prove it.

So, you can bring Miss Kitty and Gypsy with you when you visit!

A Week of Firsts

This week Dad officially started as Associate Pastor of Discipleship at our new church, and the children started their new school year. We are doing a fun, literature-based 1st grade curriculum with T and K. I am also trying to do some more structured one-on-one preschool activities with L too.

Sorry there aren't any pictures of L in this post. But, look back soon. I'm sure I catch some fun shots of her soon!

Rural Pennsylvania

K and I took some pics of some scenery around our house! Enjoy! I'm sure you'll be able to tell what pictures I (Mom) took and the ones K took.

This is a small Conservative Brethren (Mennonite) Church we can see from our front door. They meet the 4th Sunday of each month (according to their sign).

Our New Home

Our Moving Crew

Dad's sister took this pic of us right before we pulled out of her driveway to start our journey to a new home, a new state, and a new church.

Dad drove the U-Haul, and Mom and 3 kids followed. Mom and Dad talked back and forth on some cool walkie-talkies. The kiddos watched movies, listened to stories and music on CD, ate snacks, and drank juice boxes. We drove 9 hours on day one, and drove the final 6 hours on day 2. We were warmly welcomed by our new church family. The truck was unloaded and returned in record time. The pantry, refrigerator, and freezer were stocked with all kinds of goodies.

Check back soon for more news and pics from the Tibbetts family!
