Happy Birthday L!

Yesterday was sweet little L's 4th birthday! She is a HUGE source of JOY in our family! She is sensitive to the emotions of others, but she is also bossy and demanding at times. She is funny, creative, and imaginative! She is truly a blessing and a precious gift!

Miss Jimmie Ruth

Easter 2007 at WHBC
Jimmie Ruth is a special lady! When our family moved to AR, L was only 6 weeks old. L and Jimmie Ruth bonded immediately through many hours in the church nursery. As L got older, Miss Jimmie Ruth became the "gummy lady" because she always had packages of gummes in her purse! T and K had Miss Jimmie Ruth as a Cubbies teacher.

We moved away from AR in May of 2007. The above picture was our last Easter at WHBC. But, every Easter since then, Miss Jimmie Ruth has sent the children a special package in the mail. She also sends packages at Christmas and Valentine's Day! The children also get cards for their birthdays!

We're thankful for Miss Jimmie Ruth! It's nice to have someone to love on your children. Even if they do live 1,035.74 miles away!

WE LOVE YOU MISS JIMMIE RUTH!!!!
THANK YOU FOR OUR EASTER GOODIES!!!!

Nikki's Notes

Spring is here! We are enjoying more sunshine and outdoor play! It's still too cold for shorts though, much to L's dismay.

The children have enjoyed two sessions of a new homeschool co-op we're participating in, and will have four more before it wraps up for the summer.

Heath organized a Men's Gym Night at our local community center. They all had so much fun, they want to try and make it a regular get-together.

I am thankful and praising God for providing all the needed funds for my mission trip to Peru this summer! Now, I just need to continue working on learning more Spanish!

Spring Plans

The Easter Choir that Heath is directing will perform on Good Friday!

We are looking forward to meeting some old friends in Gettysburg the first weekend in May! Heath and Matt were in the same youth group in high school, and were college roommates. Matt and his family live in PA not too far from us! It will be fun to see them again. I can't wait to hold their new baby!

We are planning a day trip to the Daniel Boone Homestead. It is a little over an hour from us.

Summer Plans

We are trying to find K a t-ball team to play on. We're having difficulty finding one that does not play their games on Sundays. She was allowed to choose one activity to do this summer. Her options were dance, piano lessons, or t-ball.

Heath and T will be going to Camp Tuckahoe this summer!

A little late

I'm a little late in posting these pictures. Last week at AWANA was Green Night. The children were suppose to come dressed in green. Then winners were picked in the Sparkies class, and the T&T class. K was the winner in the Sparkies class! She was dressed in green from head to toe!
Tyler wanted to no part in having his face painted. But, he did dress in green.

Bedtime Story

The children enjoy being read to. They especially love it when Dad is home and is able to read a book to them before bed. They take turns picking out the book and sitting on Dad's lap during the story.

A Busy Scout

Saturday, T raced in his first Pinewood derby for scouts. He chose the design of his car, and a friend from church cut it out for him. Then, he chose the colors and painted the car exactly the way he wanted. T raced a total of three times. He came in 2nd twice, and 3rd once.

Tonight the boys have headed out for the annual Pack 28 cake auction. The cake had to be decorated in a scout theme. So, anything to do with nature is usually a safe choice. T wanted to make a compass cake, and use cupcakes for the North, South, East, and West markers.

Mom and Dad are proud of T. He worked hard on his derby car and his cake. T has also met all the requirements for his Tiger badge. We'll post pictures of that special event very soon!

Can You Guess?

Can you guess what's on L's head?

Let's just say I think she's pretty creative when it comes to dressing up! It doesn't take much to entertain her!
Leave a comment and let me know what YOU think is on L's head!

Warmer Temperatures

This past weekend we enjoyed warm temperatures and beautiful sunshine! We spent a lot of time outside. It was wonderful to have the windows open, feel the breeze, and hear the birds singing! We enjoyed playing football and tag. We also enjoyed eating some of our meals out on the deck.

Learning to Type

I found this neat typing website from a friend's blog.

K has had a blast and Dad and I stand amazed as we watch her TYPE!!!! I mean really type, and type correctly, and type without looking at her fingers!!!!!

T has been under the weather this week, and I can't wait to see how awesome he does when he gives it a try!

March Snow

On Monday morning we woke up to a lot of snow...and it kept coming until early afternoon. The wind was so fierce that we had huge drifts, and lost electricity for about 8 hours. It reminded us of last winter when we were without electricity. Click here if you do not know about that lovely experience.

The children did not get to go out and play in it until today (Wednesday) because T has been sick. K was sick with the same viral junk last week. I'm praying L gets left out of this business.

Tuesday = Baking Night

The boys go to scouts on Tuesdays, and the girls and I do some baking. We're on a muffin kick right now. One of our favorite kinds of muffins to make are orange juice muffins, and the recipe can be found at the Hillbilly Housewife website. For the icing recipe, mom substitutes orange juice for the milk. K likes to fill the muffin cups up, and L loves to stir the eggs.

Waste Not Want Not

When you're done eating all your cereal, do you drink the milk out of your bowl? Well, T always does. This morning he missed his mouth somehow, but that didn't stop him from slurping up his spillage from the kitchen counter!
